INSTRUCTORS: Kathy Hammonds

For as long as she can remember, Kathy has always had an affinity for fitness and nutrition. As an adolescent she read and studied everything she could get her hands on regarding health. She participated in many exercise disciplines including, martial arts, boxing, swimming, weight training, aerobics, dance, cycling, and running. She made a science out of fitness and became an accomplished athlete in high school, college and beyond. In college she was introduced to yoga and began incorporating it into her fitness repertoire, but it wasn’t until 1998, when faced with a debilitating low back injury that she began practicing consistently. As her injury healed she noticed that other parts of her life healed too. Yoga truly had a transformative effect on her mental, emotional and physical body. With a strong desire to share yoga with as many individuals as she could, she began teaching in 2001. In January 2009, Kathy adopted a simpler lifestyle that would afford her the opportunity to teach and train individuals and groups full time.

Kathy is an honors graduate in Dietetics, with over 8 years of corporate wellness, coaching, and public health club management experience. Kathy understands whole health and how to helps others realize their goals through, yoga, personal training and health coaching.

Kathy received her Yoga Alliance Teaching Certification from Brahmrishi Yoga. She was given the spiritual name, Ritam Bhara, (truth bearer) by her teacher Margot Milcetich. Teachings by Margot were and continue to be deeply steeped in the therapeutic yoga style.
