My initial connection to the mat was one of fitness as I approached the mat with an athletic but less functional strength. I practiced yoga slipping and sliding on my basement carpet as part of a home fitness program. The intensity suited me at the time, and certainly caught my attention. It wasn’t until I found myself in a position of anonymity, while traveling, that I gathered enough courage to practice among others in a studio. Immediately following my first class, I knew I was engaging in something that would largely alter my life.
Since that experience, I have been an avid practitioner, calling Chagrin Yoga home. I received my 200 hour certification from our own Darcy Providente, who urges us to explore our power through compassion and truth. My mat provides me a place to humble my strengths and honor my weaknesses. My heart is connected to the teachers and leaders of Chagrin Yoga and the tribe of students that is this community. I draw passion and inspiration from that which connects me to spirit, from the mat to the bakery.
