Chagrin Yoga offers a comprehensive schedule of classes designed to appeal to everyone including men, women, children, teens, and seniors of all experience levels. We encourage you to customize each class to your personal level of experience and to engage our instructors in helping to make the most of each experience.

Power Vinyasa

Experience the power of Vinyasa Yoga! This class heats the body from inside out and allows for physical and spiritual breakthroughs. This athletic practice will appeal to your attraction to intensity. This experience centers, lengthens, strengthens and opens you from head to toe. Be prepared to sweat as our room is heated to at least 85 degrees for increased flexibility and releasing toxins from the body. Sequencing is built around sun salutations. Simple modifications for all levels. “Power Lunch” is a 1 hour Power Vinyasa class held during the lunch hour and “Power Basics” is a 1 hour class that focuses on the basics of our Power Vinyasa classes.

Vinyasa Flow

Yoga Basics

Designed for beginners and intermediate students, this class will help establish a strong foundation for your yoga practice. We offer modifications, breath awareness and alignment instruction in order to help you move more deeply into your yoga experience. Reconnecting to your body with a clear and focused mind creates a platform for transformation according to your needs. We recommend Yoga Basics for students just starting out in yoga. It’s a great way to learn the practice in a warm and supportive environment.

Slow Flow Yoga

This is a physically slower paced class. Slow Flow focuses on holding postures and breathing, while at the same time creating a supple and toned body. This is your time to reduce stress, gain flexibility and strength, relax and have fun! This class is for beginners, and for those who already have an established yoga practice. Slow Flow is a great class to try when you want to focus on form, holding postures and deep stretches.

Bikram Style Hot Yoga

This yoga class is based on Bikram Yoga, a repeated sequence of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises in a heated environment (at least 100 degrees with high humidity to make you sweat). This is the perfect class for those starting or maintaining a yoga practice. Beginners with shoulder problems and surgeries are welcome since there are no push-ups or downward dog postures in this class. You will be challenged with an intense, sweaty workout, but the class moves slowly and every posture is beginner-level and accessible to people of all ages, sizes, fitness and (in)flexibility levels. We also offer a Bikram Basics class that runs 60 minutes in 85 – 95 degree heat, which is a perfect way to try Bikram before doing a full class.

Gentle Rejuvenative Yoga

This class will calm the mind and electrify the body. Select poses and stretches will create space and blood flow throughout the body. Students will focus on their breath and the usage of props to enhance proper alignment. The dimly lit room is warm and filled with magical music. This one hour class is equivalent to a one week vacation. ENJOY.

Buti Yoga

Buti, in Indian Marathi, means “the cure to something hidden or kept secret.” This practice for women only is a high-intensity fusion of yoga, tribal dance, and plyometrics. These sweaty, core focused classes combine cardio, strength training and flexibility in one seamless format. Buti creates a strong, empowered tribe of women who support each other in their quest for health and happiness. We encourage all women to come join our tribe, you won’t regret it!

Yoga for Healthy Shoulders & Core/Yoga for Healthy Hips & Core

Develop your strength and range of motion, balancing stability and mobility. This class is for those ready to:
  • release patterns and habits that cause strain
  • develop optimal movement and posture for yoga practice and everyday life
  • prevent injuries (from sports, from yoga, and from the repetitive movements of work and life).
  • improve wellbeing while managing chronic conditions

Shift your nervous system from stressed to relaxed, enhancing the efficiency of all your other systems, with conscious breathing and internal awareness. Learn self-care and practical methods to relieve a tight upper back and chest, achy wrists and feet, repetitive shoulder strains, a clenched jaw, and restricted neck movement; restore range of movement in the hips; release tension held in the low back; gradually strengthen core postural muscles; and relieve fatigue, anxiety, and other quality of life issues. Techniques from rehabilitative Pilates and other modalities are combined with the postures of yoga, breath work, and meditation.

Sunday Groove Yoga

Breathe. Discover. Explore. Experience. Expand. Using an eclectic blend of asana & music, this class provides a new and different experience each time you practice! Come to move, feel, breathe and jam out a bit! David and Maribeth will guide you through a light-hearted and fun class aimed at detoxifying the body both physically and mentally. This is a grounded, yet fluid, healing flow combined with meditative breathing. Cleanse from the inside out, and feel renewed! There will be plenty of hands-on assists and support with the pair co-teaching the class. This class is the perfect way to unwind at the end of the weekend. Come hydrated, on an empty stomach and ready to groove a little.

Barre

Barre combines the core strengthening of Pilates with the targeted, precise movements from the barre element of ballet classes, along with the postures of yoga. It builds strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, and core awareness. Experience the grace of dance, the postural realignment of Pilates, and the subtle wisdom of yoga. (All levels welcome – no complicated choreography to learn – all movements are demonstrated and explained.) Uplift your body to an upbeat playlist!

Relaxation & Meditation

This class is designed for deep relaxation, and to release stress and tension. The entire class will foster a relaxed inner space, seeking a balance between body and mind by dissolving physical and mental tension with asana and meditation.

The class structure will be to start seated or lying down practicing pranayama or breathwork, and setting an intention for the class. Then we move to some stretching poses using props to encourage rejuvenation and healing for the body. Restorative or yin asanas may be practiced. Classes may include use of mantras and mudras (hand or finger positions).

Meditation will last about 30 minutes during the last half of class using different techniques such as yoga nidra, guided meditation, or a silent meditation. There will be time for a brief discussion of the evening meditation. An introduction to meditation will be given for newcomers. The benefits of a daily meditation practice can reduce stress, anxiety and insomnia, as well as increase clarity. This class is for you whether you are an experienced meditator, or new to the practice.

Yoga For Healthy Backs

Let’s decompress, release tension, and find ease. In this class we will bring suppleness, flexibility, and stability in the spine through rhythmic repetitive movements, gentle twists, supported backbends and abdominal strengthening. We will also work on changing bad postural habits and increase mobility of the joints releasing neck and shoulders as well. Low back is the centre of our body, the place from which we feel support. Note: This class is not meant for people with serious low back pathology.

Kids Yoga

This class teaches children the basic postures of yoga in a fun and creative format, while mom or dad takes a class in the next room. Kids are encouraged to explore their natural love of movement while improving coordination, strength and flexibility. Yoga fosters self-esteem and helps young ones develop self-awareness. Be sure to check the class schedule for recommended age ranges for each class.

Prenatal Yoga Mini Series

Our 4-session Prenatal Yoga program was designed for all you expectant moms who want to maintain a healthy pregnancy and be better prepared – both physically and mentally – for labor and delivery. Prenatal instructor, Erin Pickus will teach you yoga poses to support each stage of your pregnancy, as well as breathing and relaxation techniques. You’ll also gain an understanding of how you can safely practice yoga during your pregnancy in any class. ⠀
